Our Head Cook of 40 years is retiring, and we are looking to fill this position at Poplars Resort!

The Poplars Resort is hiring a Head Cook. Work only 6 months of the year, and earn a full-time salary. We are looking to fill this position for the long-term, after a trial basis of one season. We are a non-licensed resort, so hours are reasonable and steady.

The position involves being responsible for:

- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert preparation, as well as plating, as per American Plan (homestyle/comfort cooking)

- Maintaining a clean workspace, including dishwashing

- Basic food inventory

- Basic menu planning

- Supervising and delegating tasks to a support cook

- Participate in brainstorming towards always striving to improve the guest experience

- Be receptive to feedback for improvement

- Priority on cleanliness of the workspace

- Heavy lifting required

- Stamina to stand for extended periods

Close proximity to Newboro, Rideau Lakes is essential as we operate by split shifts. The season operates from April to October. Previous commercial kitchen experience or equivalent is required. Food Handler’s Certification is an asset. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
