The Location:
The Poplars Resort is
located on Newboro Lake within the village of Newboro. Newboro Lake is
the largest of six connecting lakes (approximately 9 miles x 9 miles of
fresh water full of fishing opportunities). The lake is known for its
bass fishing (both large and smallmouth) and northern pike as well as
plentiful pan fish. The lake is located in the Heart of the Rideau Lake
System, an historic waterway linking Ottawa, the Nation's capital with
Lake Ontario. Here you will find (as well as the great fishing)
exceptional boating, wildlife, and quiet relaxation.
The main lodge offers a
large living room with satellite TV, VCR, and DVD with numerous videos. The
check-in area and office are here also. The screened porch is available
to all guests, as well as a card room and abundant supply of books.
Three meals a day are served in our dining room which
overlooks the water. You have the opportunity to take a picnic lunch if
you want an uninterrupted day of fishing or sightseeing. During the
summer months, weather permitting, we have a weekly
"cook-out" when dinner is served outdoors (a nice break for
the guests as well as the staff!). Birthdays and anniversaries are
celebrated with a baked Alaska for your party. The meals are prepared
in our own kitchen - they are appetizing and tasty. All baking
is done on the premises (even better than Mom's).
The waterfront is well
equipped. Here you will find help docking, advice on finding fish, fish
cleaning and freezing facilities. There is no charge for dockage. The
municipal launching ramp is close-by and we provide help with launching
and trailer storage.
