Come for the fishing, stay for the food, return to see if the 4 pounder has grown into a 5 pounder.
The Poplars Resort is a beautiful old fishing resort originally built in the late 1920′s. During your trip to The Poplars, you will find the emphasis is on maintaining the rustic ambiance and sense of an "unplugged" vacation, which many of our guests are here to enjoy. Despite this, we have recently upgraded our wifi so that it is now accessible across the property but doesn't interrupt the quiet serenity of Newboro Lake. We are on the Rideau Canal system, which has been designated a world heritage site.
In addition to being recognized as prized bass, pike and pan fish areas, Newboro Lake is one of the most picturesque areas of Eastern Ontario. A new way to enjoy the fishing and the scenery at The Poplars is with our kayaks! For more information on kayak rentals, click here.

We, Rick and Joan White, are the seventh owners in the history of The Poplars Resort.
Each owner added some of their own touches as the character of The Poplars Resort was built. The original ambiance is still felt by guests who have returned repeatedly over the years, some bringing children and grandchildren to carry on the tradition of fishing on Newboro Lake.
